Our Story

In 2017, in response to increasing community demand for these charitable health services, Kafra Mobile Clinic transitioned into Kafra Medical Services, a registered community medical centre under the Uganda Ministry of Health.

In 2023, the medical centre was rebranded as Kafra General Hospital and relocated to more suitable premises to support expanded service delivery. In the same year, the institution was formally registered with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) as a non-profit organization under the Companies Act of Uganda, becoming an indigenous incorporated legal entity limited by guarantee (Registration No. 80034280574020). Kafra General Hospital is also duly registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council, under Certificate Series No. 45341, affirming its compliance with national healthcare regulatory standards.

Today, the Healing Center continues to build on its strong foundation in community-based healthcare, providing accessible, compassionate, and high-quality medical services while remaining steadfast in its commitment to public health improvement and service to vulnerable communities.

Our Journey Through The Years

2012 - The Beginning

The Director faced a hospital challenge with a family member who was sick, being a doctor and not have a facility in the village.

2013 - First Expansion

Visibility study and consultation on possibility of starting a health project.

2013 – Vision and Outreach Major Milestone

Founded by Dr. Frank Kamanzi and Mrs. Sarah Kemigisha, Kafra Mobile Clinic began delivering healthcare to underserved Ugandan communities, addressing critical public health needs directly.

2015 - Modernization

Intensified our charity activities and forming alliances in rural areas and our community in slum areas in our urban surrounding

2017 – Transition to Medical Centre

Kafra Mobile Clinic evolved into Kafra Medical Services, registered under Uganda's Ministry of Health, establishing permanent premises in Makindye Division, Kampala, expanding healthcare coverage to suburban communities.

2023 – Rebranding and Relocation

Kafra Medical Services rebranded as Kafra General Hospital, relocating to larger premises, supporting expanded service delivery and improved infrastructure for accessible, compassionate, high-quality healthcare provision

Key Milestone 2024 – Legal Incorporation and Compliance

Hospital registered with Uganda Registration Services Bureau as non-profit entity limited by guarantee, and certified by Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council, affirming compliance with national healthcare standards.
